Satellite installers in Grays
A dish in Grays is aimed at satellites hanging high above the equator, and the target is tiny. Get it a fraction wrong and the picture holds on a dry day, then fails as soon as a band of rain moves up the Thames. We set every dish with a meter so it has signal in reserve, and much of our satellite work is bringing old dishes back on target.
Our work across RM16, RM17 and RM20 covers fresh Sky and Freesat installs, relocating a dish when a porch, new windows or render gets in its way, swapping worn LNBs, and wiring multi-room and communal systems for houses and apartment blocks. Watching more TV over broadband these days? We can tell you whether the dish on your wall still earns its place.
Satellite services in Grays

Sky dish installation
A dish and LNB to suit Sky Q, sized for however many tuners you run. Sky Glass and Sky Stream stream over your broadband, so they need no dish at all; if that’s your next step, the old dish can be removed or kept to feed a Freesat box.

Freesat installation
Live TV with no subscription. Freesat is a good answer in the low corners of Chafford Hundred where the aerial signal is weak, and for flats with no working aerial socket.

Dish realignment and LNB replacement
Pictures that vanish in a shower, or a single tuner that keeps dropping out, generally come down to a dish that has crept off target or a tired LNB at the end of the arm. We bring the dish back with a meter and swap the LNB if it is at fault.

Moving a dish
Loft conversions, porches, solar panels and wall insulation often leave a dish in the wrong place. We find a new spot with a clear south-easterly view, run new cable and seal the entry point.

Multi-room and communal satellite
One dish can serve a whole household, or a whole building, through a multiswitch that gives each box its own feed. Useful for apartment buildings near the town centre and for bigger houses where three or four rooms want satellite.

Foreign-language satellite
Want TV from Poland, Italy, Romania or Turkey? A second dish, or a dual-feed mount on the one you have, can be lined up on Hotbird and the other European birds that carry those channels.
Fixing ‘no satellite signal’ in Grays
That on-screen warning nearly always starts outdoors. A gusty night or a builder’s ladder nudges the dish, a neighbour’s tree fills out across its view, gulls from the river sit on the arm, or the LNB simply wears out. Inside the house, a plug pulled half out behind the box or a dead multiswitch in the loft produces exactly the same message.
Try a minute with the box switched off at the socket, and look out of the window: a downpour or a layer of snow on the dish will clear without help. If the warning keeps coming back, we follow the signal from the dish to the box and put the fault right, normally on the first visit.

Finding a spot for the dish
Your dish has to see open sky to the south-east. A north-facing wall won’t do, and neither will a garden overshadowed by tall trees or one of the old quarry faces. Planning permission isn’t normally needed for a dish on a Grays house, but conservation areas, of which Thurrock has several including Orsett and Purfleet, and listed buildings come with stricter limits. We’ll pick a position that gets a signal and stays within the rules, and let you know if a word with Thurrock Council is sensible before anything goes up.

Grays questions
Why does my satellite picture break up when it rains in Grays?
Rain absorbs a small slice of the satellite signal. A dish set up properly has margin to spare, so failing in everyday showers suggests it has moved or the LNB is wearing out. A realignment is normally the cure.
Is a dish still needed for Sky?
Sky Q and older boxes need one. Sky Glass and Sky Stream don’t, because they run over broadband. If you change, leave the dish up: plugged into a Freesat box it gives you free satellite TV.
My aerial signal in Chafford Hundred is weak. Is Freesat an option?
Usually, yes. Satellite doesn’t depend on the line to Crystal Palace, so it can work well where the aerial struggles, provided the dish can see the south-eastern sky.
Will a dish on my Grays house need planning permission?
Rarely. Conservation areas such as Orsett and Purfleet, and listed buildings, are the exceptions where tighter rules apply. We’ll put the dish somewhere sensible and flag it if the council should be asked.
Can I get channels from my home country?
Very likely. We line up dishes on Hotbird and other European satellites, usually next to your existing dish.
