Satellite engineers in Brentwood
A dish only works when it is pointed with real accuracy at a satellite sitting high above the equator. In Brentwood the challenge is usually the view. Tall trees in gardens and along the roads can block the line to the south-east, and a dish that was clear when it went up may be in shade ten years later. We set every dish with a meter and check the view will stay open as the trees grow. On a wooded plot that sometimes means a pole on the chimney or a bracket higher up the gable, and we’ll explain why before fitting it.
We fit Sky and Freesat dishes, move them for extensions, loft conversions and re-roofing, replace failed LNBs and design multi-room and communal systems for houses and apartment blocks across CM13, CM14 and CM15. Freesat is also handy in Brentwood for another reason: its channel list includes other BBC regions, so you can watch BBC One East even when your aerial faces London.
Satellite services in Brentwood

Sky dish installation
Dishes for Sky Q, with an LNB sized for the boxes in your home. Sky Glass and Sky Stream need broadband and no dish, so if you’ve made that switch we can take the dish down or leave it for a Freesat box in another room.

Freesat installation
Free satellite TV with no monthly fee and plenty of HD. A good fit for homes under heavy tree cover where the aerial signal is weak, and for outbuildings and annexes.

Dish realignment and LNB replacement
Signal lost in the rain, or one tuner dropping out while the rest work? The dish has probably moved or the LNB has failed. We realign by meter and change the LNB if it’s worn out.

Moving a dish
When an extension, new windows or solar panels get in the way, we move the dish to a position with a clear south-easterly view, tidy the cable run and seal the wall.

Multi-room and communal satellite
Multiswitch systems feed several boxes or several flats from one dish. Popular in larger family homes in Hutton and Shenfield and in new apartment blocks near the stations.

Foreign-language satellite
Dishes set on Hotbird and other European satellites, so you can watch channels from home, fitted next to your main dish where the wall or roof has room.
Fixing ‘no satellite signal’ in Brentwood
The cause is usually on the outside of the house. Wind or a ladder knocks the dish out of line, a tree grows across its view during the summer, a bird nests on the arm or the LNB fails with age. Inside, a loose cable behind the box or a faulty multiswitch in the loft shows the same message.
Before you ring, turn the box off at the mains for a minute and consider whether a cloudburst or snow could be to blame, as both pass. If the message persists, we test from dish to box and fix the fault, usually in one visit.

Where to put a dish in Brentwood
The dish needs an unobstructed view to the south-east, so north-facing walls and spots under large trees rarely work. In most cases you don’t need planning permission, but conservation areas and listed buildings have tighter rules. Brentwood has thirteen conservation areas, among them Brentwood Town Centre, Hutton Village, Great Warley, South Weald and Ingatestone High Street. In those places we look for a position at the back or side of the house, away from the road, and tell you when it is worth checking with Brentwood Borough Council.

Brentwood questions
Why does my Sky or Freesat cut out in rain?
Heavy rain soaks up part of the signal. A well-set dish copes, so frequent drop-outs usually mean the dish has drifted, the LNB is failing or a tree is getting in the way.
Does Sky still need a dish?
Sky Q and older boxes do. Sky Glass and Sky Stream work over broadband. If you switch, keep the dish for Freesat.
Can I watch BBC East on Freesat in Brentwood?
Freesat carries the BBC’s regional versions, and you can choose another region’s BBC One from the channel list, so you aren’t limited to what your aerial picks up.
Do I need permission for a dish in a conservation area?
The rules are tighter, especially for dishes facing a road, and listed buildings need consent. We find a discreet spot and tell you if you should check with the council.
Can you fit a second dish for foreign channels?
Yes. We align dishes to Hotbird and other satellites, usually alongside the one you already have.
