TV aerial repairs in Brentwood
TV faults in Brentwood tend to creep up on you. The TV aerial on the chimney has spent years in sun, frost and wind, and one small thing gives way: a plug corrodes, a clamp loosens, an element snaps. At first a channel pixelates on a wet evening. Later a whole group of channels disappears after a retune, and in the end the TV says there is no signal at all.
We start at the TV and work back towards the roof, reading the signal at the set, the wall plate, the amplifier and the aerial lead. The point where the numbers drop shows us what has failed. We repair that part, retune the TVs and talk you through the readings before we leave, whether you live in the town centre or a hamlet at the edge of the borough.

Faults we repair in Brentwood

Storm and wind damage
Falling branches and strong gusts bend aerials, twist poles and pull brackets out of soft mortar. We make a damaged installation safe, then repair or replace the aerial and its fixings.

Water in the cable
Water creeps into a split sheath or a loose plug, the copper corrodes and the picture breaks up, worst of all in wet weather. We replace the damaged length, fit weatherproof connectors and seal the joint.

TV aerial knocked off its line
An aerial that has turned even slightly away from Crystal Palace, or from Sudbury if you use it, can lose channels. We bring it back on target with the meter and tighten everything.

Failed amplifiers and splitters
When every TV fails together, the amplifier or its power supply is usually to blame. Larger houses with many sockets rely on one heavily, so we test it under load and replace it if needed.

Missing channels and 4G/5G
Channels gone after a retune suggest a narrow-band aerial or a weak multiplex. A picture that stutters at busy times points to mobile interference, which a filter in the right place stops.

Single rooms and fly leads
A problem on one TV only is nearly always local to it: a kinked fly lead, a loose wall socket or the cable to that room. We test that run and fix it.
Repairing or replacing your TV aerial
A repair is our first choice whenever it will last. We suggest replacing the TV aerial when its elements have corroded or snapped, when it was designed for a channel group that no longer covers every multiplex, or when the mast and bracket need renewing and the aerial is close to the end of its working life. You see the readings and make the call.

TV aerials in open country and Green Belt villages
Much of the borough is Green Belt farmland, with villages such as Kelvedon Hatch, Navestock, Stondon Massey, Doddinghurst and Blackmore spread across open fields. TV aerials out there take the full force of the wind with nothing to shelter them, and many sit on tall masts strapped to chimneys that have been up for decades. Lashing wire rusts, poles fatigue and the whole assembly starts to lean. We check the chimney fixing as well as the aerial, replace worn lashings and brackets, and choose a mounting that will stand up to the next winter. If a mast has come down in a storm, keep away from it and call us; we make it safe before anything else. Many home insurance policies cover storm damage to aerials, and we can give you a written note of what we found.

Brentwood questions
All my TVs lost signal at once. What has happened?
When every set goes together, the usual suspects are the amplifier or its power unit, the main cable down from the roof, or the aerial itself. Check the amplifier has power, then give us a ring.
Why is my picture worse in wet weather?
Water has almost certainly got into the cable or a connector. Replacing the damaged section and sealing the joints solves it. In leafy parts of Brentwood, wet trees can also weaken a borderline signal.
My TV aerial is on a tall mast in a village. Is it safe?
If the mast leans, rattles in the wind or the lashing wire looks rusty, it needs checking. We inspect the chimney fixing and replace worn parts before they fail.
Will you repair a TV aerial that another firm fitted?
Yes. We repair aerials, cabling and amplifiers whoever put them up.
Can you help with an insurance claim for storm damage?
We can provide a written note of the damage and the work we did. Check your policy to see whether aerials are included.
