Satellite engineers for Epping and the villages
For many homes in the villages around Epping, satellite is the most dependable way to watch live TV. A dish doesn’t care how far you are from a transmitter, only that it can see the satellites in the south-eastern sky. In open country that’s usually easy; on the forest edge, where tall trees ring the gardens, it takes more care to find a clear line.
We fit new Sky and Freesat dishes, realign dishes that have drifted, replace LNBs, move dishes for extensions and barn conversions, and design multi-room systems for larger houses. For homes in the town centre conservation area, we look for positions that keep the dish out of the street scene. On farms and big plots, the house is not always the best place for the dish: a pole in the garden or a south-facing barn wall can see more sky, and we can run cable from there to every building that needs a picture.
Satellite services around Epping

Sky dish installation
A dish and the right LNB for Sky Q, with cable runs planned to every room that needs a box. Sky Glass and Sky Stream use broadband instead of a dish, so if you switch, we can take your old dish down or leave it for Freesat.

Freesat installation
Live TV with no subscription and a programme guide. In villages where the aerial signal is weak, it’s often the simplest route to a steady picture.

Dish realignment and LNB replacement
A dish that loses its picture in showers, or one box without signal, has usually moved slightly or has a tired LNB. We set it with a meter and replace the LNB if needed.

Moving a dish
Extensions, re-roofing, solar panels and barn conversions often leave a dish in the wrong place. We move it to a spot with a clear south-east view and run the cable neatly inside.

Multi-room and communal satellite
Multiswitch systems feeding several boxes from one dish, for family homes, converted farm buildings with several dwellings, and flats near the station.

Foreign-language satellite
Dishes aimed at Hotbird or other satellites for channels from across Europe, alongside your main dish where space allows.
Lost satellite signal around Epping
‘No satellite signal’ usually means trouble outside. Wind across open fields can shift a dish, trees on the forest edge fill the view a little more each year, LNBs fail with age, and cables to outbuildings get damaged. Indoors, a loose plug behind the box or a faulty multiswitch can cause the same message.
First, restart the box at the wall and check that heavy rain or snow isn’t covering the dish, since both pass on their own. If the fault stays, we’ll trace and fix it, on any dish whoever installed it.

Placing a dish in Epping
A dish needs a clear view towards the south-east. Planning permission usually isn’t needed, but the rules are tighter in conservation areas, and Epping has several, including the town centre around the High Street, Bell Common and Coopersale Street. Listed buildings need consent before a dish goes up. We’ll suggest a discreet position, often at the back of the house or on a garden pole, and tell you if you should check with Epping Forest District Council.

Epping questions
Is satellite better than an aerial in the villages?
It can be. Where the Freeview signal is weak, a Freesat dish gives a reliable picture with no subscription. We can measure both and tell you which suits your home.
Do I need a dish for Sky?
For Sky Q, yes. Sky Glass and Sky Stream work over broadband without one. An existing dish can be reused for Freesat if you switch.
Can I put a dish on a house in an Epping conservation area?
Often, yes, but out of sight of the street where possible. The rules are stricter in the town centre, Bell Common and Coopersale Street conservation areas and for listed buildings.
Can one dish serve our barn conversion and the main house?
Yes. A multiswitch can feed boxes in both buildings from a single dish, with cable run underground or along a wall between them.
Why does my picture go in heavy rain?
Very heavy rain weakens satellite signals. A well-set dish only drops out in the worst storms, so frequent break-up suggests drift or an ageing LNB.
