Satellite engineers in Rayleigh
A satellite dish is far simpler to live with than the aerial puzzle Rayleigh presents. There’s no choosing between London and Anglia, and no Freeview Light relay with half the channels: every home gets the same signal from the same satellites. What matters is a clear view to the south-east and a dish that is aimed precisely and fixed firmly enough to stay put on an exposed hill.
We put up Sky and Freesat dishes across SS6 and the Rochford villages, move dishes for extensions, solar panels and re-rendering, swap failing LNBs and install multi-room systems. If you’re thinking of dropping the dish for Sky over broadband, we’ll explain what changes and what you’d lose.
Satellite services in Rayleigh

Sky dish installation
Sky Q takes its channels from the satellite, so it needs a dish with an LNB sized for the number of tuners in the house. Sky Glass and Sky Stream arrive through your broadband, so if you move to one of those, the dish can come down or stay for Freesat.

Freesat installation
No subscription and no regional puzzle. Freesat is a good fit if your aerial only gets the Rouncefall channels, or if you want a second source of live TV alongside Freeview.

Dish realignment and LNB replacement
Blocky pictures whenever a shower blows over, or one tuner dropping out, usually mean the dish has been pushed round by the wind or the LNB is on its way out. A meter gets the dish back on the satellite, and a tired LNB is swapped there and then.

Moving a dish
When an extension, loft conversion, new render or solar array gets in the way, we rehang the dish on a wall or chimney that still looks south-east, clip the new cable run neatly and fill the old holes.

Multi-room and communal satellite
Multiswitch systems so several boxes, or several flats above the High Street shops and in newer blocks, share one dish without signal problems.

Foreign-language satellite
Polish, Italian, Turkish and Greek channels, and many more, come from Hotbird. We add a separate dish or a second LNB so you can watch them alongside your usual services.
Satellite repairs: ‘no satellite signal’
That message usually means something has changed outside. Wind across the hill pushes dishes out of line, trees and hedges grow into their view, pigeons sit on the arm, and LNBs wear out over the years. Inside the house, a plug that has worked loose at the back of the box, or a multiswitch that has failed, brings up exactly the same warning.
Before ringing anyone, turn the box off at the socket for a minute, and if it’s pouring or snowing hard, give the weather time to pass. If the warning returns on a clear day, the fault is real, and we can usually trace and put it right during a single visit. Bring up anything else that has been odd, such as one room losing channels, as it often turns out to be connected.

Where can a dish go?
Your dish needs an open view of the south-eastern sky. For most Rayleigh houses it is permitted development, though conservation areas and listed buildings face stricter limits. The town centre around the High Street and Bellingham Lane is a conservation area with a number of listed buildings, so a dish facing the street there may need consent. We’ll suggest a less visible position that still works and tell you when to check with Rochford District Council.

Rayleigh questions
Would satellite solve my aerial problems in Rayleigh?
Often. If your aerial only gets Rouncefall’s main channels, or reception is unreliable, Freesat or Sky gives you a full channel list from one dish, as long as it can see the south-east.
Does Sky still need a dish?
It depends on the box. Sky Q relies on one; Sky Glass and Sky Stream come through broadband. A dish you no longer need for Sky can feed a Freesat box.
My Sky picture freezes in heavy rain. Why?
Rain weakens the signal slightly. A dish aimed precisely has enough in hand; one that has drifted or has a worn LNB doesn’t. Re-aiming it with a meter normally cures it.
Do I need permission for a dish in Rayleigh?
Most homes don’t. In the town centre conservation area, or on a listed building, a dish visible from the road may need consent. We’ll advise on a discreet spot.
Can I get Polish or Turkish TV by satellite in Rayleigh?
Yes. Those channels come from Hotbird, so we fit a second dish or add an extra LNB to the one you already have, as long as it has a clear view.
