Satellite dish engineers in Enfield
In a borough with this many terraces, tower blocks and mature street trees, a satellite dish has to be placed with some thought. It needs an unbroken line to a satellite over the equator, and in a tight Enfield street that line can be blocked by the house opposite, a growing plane tree or a new block of flats. Get the spot and the alignment right, and it will run for years.
We fit Sky and Freesat dishes, move them for loft conversions and extensions, replace worn LNBs and set up multi-room and communal systems across EN1, EN2 and EN3. We also align dishes to European satellites for channels in other languages.
Satellite services in Enfield

Sky dish installation
A Sky Q box still takes its programmes from a dish, as do the Sky boxes that came before it, and each box needs its own LNB output. Sky Glass and Sky Stream stream over broadband instead, so after a switch the old dish can come off the wall or stay to feed Freesat.

Freesat installation
Free-to-air satellite with the main channels in HD and nothing to pay each month. Handy for a flat where the communal aerial is poor and the landlord agrees to a dish.

Dish realignment and LNB replacement
Pictures that vanish in every heavy shower, or a bedroom box that loses signal while the lounge is fine, nearly always mean a shifted dish or a worn-out LNB. A meter puts the dish back on target, and a failing LNB is changed on the spot.

Moving a dish
Loft conversions, rear extensions, new windows and solar panels often leave a dish in the way. We choose a new mounting that still sees the south-eastern sky, route the cable tidily and make the wall entry watertight.

Multi-room and communal satellite
A multiswitch lets several boxes, or every flat in a block, run from one dish. We also upgrade older communal systems in Enfield’s blocks to carry satellite to each flat.

Foreign-language satellite
Dishes aligned to Hotbird and other satellites for Turkish, Greek, Italian, Polish and other channels. A second dish usually fits next to the first if the wall has room.
‘No satellite signal’ in Enfield
Most satellite faults start outside. Wind shifts the dish, scaffolders and roofers knock it, birds bend the arm, street and garden trees grow into its view, and LNBs fail with age. Inside, a loose cable behind the box or a dead multiswitch in a block can cause the same message.
Before booking, unplug the box for a minute and plug it back in, and glance at the dish in case snow or a cloudburst is the cause, since both pass. If the warning keeps coming back, one visit is usually enough to find and cure it.

Finding the right spot for a dish
A dish needs a clear view to the south-east, which can be tricky on a north-facing terrace or under a big street tree. Most houses can put one up as permitted development, though limits are stricter in conservation areas and on listed buildings, and Enfield has several, including Enfield Town, Forty Hill, Clay Hill and Bush Hill Park. In those streets we keep dishes off the front elevation and look at rear walls, side returns and outbuildings instead. In flats, the landlord or freeholder normally has the final say, and we’ll flag anything that ought to go to Enfield Council first.

Enfield questions
My Sky box loses its picture in a downpour. Is the dish faulty?
Not necessarily broken, but probably slightly off target. Very heavy rain weakens satellite signals, and a dish that is spot on has margin to ride it out. One that drops out in ordinary showers needs re-aiming or a new LNB.
Is a dish still required for Sky?
Only if you have Sky Q or an older box. Sky Glass and Sky Stream work over broadband. A dish you no longer need for Sky can be used for Freesat.
Can I have a dish on my flat?
Usually only with the landlord’s or freeholder’s permission. If the block has a communal system, it may be possible to add satellite to it for every flat.
Will the council need to approve my dish?
Most houses don’t, but conservation areas such as Enfield Town, Forty Hill and Bush Hill Park, and listed buildings, have tighter rules. We’ll suggest a position that keeps you within them.
Can I get Turkish or Greek television by satellite?
Yes. We align dishes to the right satellite for the channels you want, often beside an existing dish.
