Satellite dish installation & repairs in Dagenham

Dishes put up, moved and repaired on Becontree terraces, homes in Dagenham Village and flats near the Heathway, with multi-room and foreign-language set-ups.

Satellite dishes fitted and fixed in Dagenham

A satellite dish aims at a point in space about 36,000 kilometres above the equator, so small errors matter. A dish that has crept a degree or two in the wind may still work on a dry day and then lose the picture in every downpour. We line up every dish with a meter, and check the cable and LNB at the same visit, because a weak link anywhere looks like the same fault on screen.

Across Dagenham we put up Sky and Freesat dishes, shift them for extensions and loft conversions, swap failed LNBs, and set up systems that feed several rooms or a whole block of flats. Not sure a dish is still worth having? Ask us: some of Sky’s newer services manage without one.

Satellite work we do in Dagenham

Sky dish installation

A dish for Sky Q or an older Sky box, with an LNB that has an output for every box in the house. Sky Glass and Sky Stream come over broadband with no dish, so if you’re changing, we can remove the old one or leave it up for Freesat.

Freesat installation

Live TV by satellite with no subscription to pay. Handy where a small Becontree loft has no room for an aerial or an extension next door shades the London signal, and useful as a second source in homes that want both.

Dish realignment and LNB replacement

Pictures that drop out in heavy rain, or one box losing channels while another carries on, nearly always mean the dish has moved or the LNB is failing. A meter puts the dish back on target, and a worn LNB gets swapped.

Moving a dish

Rear extensions, new windows, rendering and solar panels often leave a dish in the way. We find a spot with clear sky to the south-east, refit it there, and seal the cable where it passes through the wall.

Multi-room and communal satellite

A multiswitch lets several Sky or Freesat boxes, or all the flats in one building, run from a single dish. We install them for landlords, managing agents and bigger households.

Foreign-language satellite

Channels in Italian, Polish, Arabic and many other languages are carried on Hotbird and other European satellites. We mount a second dish beside your first where there’s space. Tell us the channels you want and we’ll check which satellite carries them.

‘No satellite signal’ in Dagenham

That message on a Sky or Freesat box usually means a problem outdoors. Gales and ladders knock dishes out of line, a summer’s growth on a tree can creep into the view, and LNBs simply wear out. Indoors, a cable that has worked loose from the box, or a multiswitch that has died, gives exactly the same warning.

Before you book, restart the box at the wall, and check whether snow or very heavy rain is sitting over the dish, as both pass on their own. If the message keeps coming back, we’ll trace the cause and put it right, usually in a single visit.

Choosing a spot for your dish

A dish in Dagenham needs an open view of the sky to the south-east, which can rule out some north-facing walls and gardens under tall trees. For most houses there’s no need for planning permission. Conservation areas are different: in the Dagenham Village conservation area, Barking and Dagenham Council asks for its agreement before a dish goes on a chimney stack, or on a roof slope or wall facing the road. Listed buildings need consent as well. We’ll find a spot that works and flag anything the council may need to see.

Dagenham questions

My Sky picture breaks up whenever it rains. Why?

Heavy rain absorbs a little of the satellite signal. A properly aligned dish has margin to spare, so one that cuts out in every shower has probably drifted, or has an LNB on its way out. Realigning it normally cures the problem.

Does Sky still need a dish?

Sky Q and older Sky boxes do. Sky Glass and Sky Stream use your broadband instead. If you switch, the dish can stay where it is and be used for Freesat.

Can you move my dish so we can build an extension?

Yes. We take it down before the builders start, then refit it in a new position with a clear south-easterly view, bring the cable to it and line it up again.

Will the council need to approve my dish?

Usually not. In the Dagenham Village conservation area, ask the council before fitting one to a chimney, a front roof slope or a wall facing the road, and listed buildings need consent. We’ll advise on a suitable spot.

Can you set up channels from other countries?

Yes. We align dishes to Hotbird and other European satellites, often alongside the dish you already have.
