Dish installers for Stanway and west Colchester
Stanway’s aerials point north to Sudbury, but its dishes all look the other way, towards a patch of sky low in the south-east where the Astra 2 satellites sit. On a new estate, where houses are close together and roofs share the same angles, finding a wall with a clean view isn’t always as easy as it looks. A neighbour’s gable, a row of young trees that will be twice the height in ten years, or a solar array can all get in the way.
We survey first, pick a position that will still work as the street matures, and fix the dish solidly to brick or block. Every dish is peaked with a meter. As well as new Sky and Freesat installs, we replace LNBs, move dishes for extensions and loft conversions, and wire multi-room systems across CO3 and the villages from Copford to the Layers.
Satellite work we do in Stanway

Sky dish installation
A dish and the right LNB for Sky Q, with cable run neatly to each box, using the conduits builders leave in many new homes where we can. Sky Glass and Sky Stream go over broadband and need no dish, so a spare dish can come down or stay for Freesat.

Freesat installation
Satellite TV with no monthly payment and the main channels in HD. A sensible second source of live TV for homes on the lower ground by Roman River, where the aerial signal is less generous.

Dish realignment and LNB replacement
‘No satellite signal’ on one box but not the other, or everything dropping out in a cloudburst, usually means a shifted dish or a worn LNB. We re-peak it and change the LNB if it tests weak.

Moving a dish
Loft conversions, side extensions, new windows and render all have a way of landing where the dish was. We take it off, choose a fresh south-east-facing spot, and run and seal a new cable.

Multi-room and communal satellite
Multiswitches that feed several boxes, or a whole block of flats, from one dish. Common in the newer apartment buildings around Lakelands and Tollgate, and in larger family homes.

Foreign-language satellite
Dishes aimed at Hotbird and other satellites for Polish, Lithuanian, Romanian, Italian and other channels, set beside your main dish so neither blocks the other.
Sorting out satellite faults
When a dish stops working in Stanway, the reason is nearly always one of a few things. Builders or scaffolders working next door have knocked it. A tree in the garden or the next street has grown into its view. The LNB has failed after years of weather, or water has got into the F-plug at the arm. Inside, a cable trapped behind a cabinet or a failed multiswitch gives the same message on the screen.
Before booking, switch the box off at the wall for a minute and check whether there’s a downpour or snow overhead, as both can clear by themselves. If the picture still won’t return, we’ll test from the dish to the box and repair what has failed.

Where a dish can go
Any dish needs a clear line to the south-east. On Stanway’s estates the front of many houses faces another row of homes, so the side or rear wall is often the better choice. Most houses don’t need planning permission, but rules are tighter in conservation areas and for listed buildings, and some new estates have covenants in the deeds limiting where dishes can go on the front. Flats usually need the freeholder’s or managing agent’s agreement. We’ll find a spot that works and fits the rules for your home.

Stanway questions
Can I put a dish on the front of my new-build house?
Planning rules usually allow it, but some new estates have covenants in the deeds about dishes facing the road. Check your paperwork. A side or rear wall often works just as well.
Does Sky still need a satellite dish?
For Sky Q, yes. Sky Glass and Sky Stream use broadband, so they don’t need one.
My dish stopped working after scaffolding went up next door. Why?
It has probably been knocked a fraction out of line, or the scaffold is blocking its view. Once the scaffold is down we can realign it with a meter.
Can one dish feed several TVs?
Yes. With the right LNB or a multiswitch, one dish can serve several boxes or a whole block of flats.
Can you fit a dish for channels from abroad?
Yes. We align dishes to Hotbird and other European satellites, usually beside your existing dish.
