Satellite dish installers in Huntingdon
Satellite TV depends on a precise aim. The dish on your wall points at satellites high above the equator, and a movement of a degree or so is enough to turn a perfect picture into one that fails in a heavy shower. Most of the satellite call-outs we get in Huntingdon come down to that: a dish nudged by wind, by a ladder, or by a tree that has grown into its view.
We install new Sky and Freesat dishes, realign and repair existing ones, swap failed LNBs, relocate dishes when you extend or render, and set up multi-room systems across Huntingdon, Godmanchester and the PE28 villages. Every dish is aligned with a meter and fixed to a bracket that will hold it there.
Satellite services in Huntingdon

Sky dish installation
Sky Q and earlier Sky boxes take their channels from a dish, so we fit one with enough LNB outputs for each tuner. Sky Glass and Sky Stream stream over broadband with no dish at all, and if you’ve moved to one, the old dish can come down or be reused for Freesat.

Freesat installation
Free satellite TV with no monthly bill and a full guide. It’s handy for annexes, garden rooms and outbuildings where running an aerial cable is awkward, and for homes in the villages screened from the aerial signal by trees.

Dish realignment and LNB replacement
Losing the picture in rain, or one tuner showing no signal? The dish has usually shifted or the LNB has worn out. We set the dish back on target with a meter and replace the LNB if it has failed.

Moving a dish
Extensions, loft conversions, new render and solar panels often mean a dish has to move. We work out where it can see the satellites from, refit and realign it there, and feed the cable back indoors through a neatly sealed entry.

Multi-room and communal satellite
One dish can serve a whole building through a multiswitch, with every box or flat free to watch whatever it likes. We fit and repair these in larger houses, town-centre apartments and blocks on the newer estates.

Foreign-language satellite
TV from home for households with family ties abroad: a second dish, or a dual-feed set-up, pointed at Hotbird or another European satellite for Polish, Italian, Turkish or Portuguese channels.
Satellite repairs: ‘no satellite signal’
‘No satellite signal’ usually means something outside has changed. In Huntingdon that is most often a dish pushed out of line by wind or a builder’s ladder, trees in leaf blocking its view in summer, a worn LNB, or a cable damaged by birds, squirrels or building work. Inside the house, a loose plug or a failed multiswitch can give the same message.
Two things are worth trying yourself. Power the box down at the socket, wait, and start it again. Then look at the dish for a coating of snow or ice. If neither helps, the fault needs a meter, and we can usually sort it on the first visit.

Where can a dish go in Huntingdon?
Your dish needs an unblocked view towards the south-east. On many homes a side or rear wall works, keeping the dish off the front. Most houses don’t need planning permission. The rules are stricter in the Huntingdon Conservation Area, which takes in the High Street, Princes Street and Castle Hill, and for listed buildings. We’ll find a position that gets a strong signal and keeps within the rules, and tell you if you should check with Huntingdonshire District Council first.

Huntingdon questions
Why does my satellite TV cut out in heavy rain?
Rain absorbs some of the satellite signal. A well-aligned dish has enough spare to cope, so if yours cuts out in normal showers, it has probably moved or the LNB is ageing. Realigning it usually solves it.
Do I need a dish for Sky?
It depends on the box. A Sky Q box, or anything older, gets its channels from a dish. Sky Glass and Sky Stream come through broadband instead. A dish you no longer use for Sky can feed a Freesat box.
Can you move my dish for building work?
Yes. We unbolt it before the builders start, agree a new spot with you that sees the satellites, then refit, recable and realign it.
Do I need planning permission in Huntingdon?
Most homes don’t. In the conservation area around the High Street and on listed buildings, a dish visible from the road may need consent, so we look first for a rear or side wall.
Can you fit a dish for channels from abroad?
Yes. Hotbird carries a large number of European channels, and we can usually mount a dish for it on the same wall as your Sky or Freesat dish.
