TV aerial installers for Haverhill
Haverhill is an old market town that was rebuilt on a much larger scale. A fire in 1667 destroyed most of its historic buildings, and from the late 1950s it was chosen to take families moving out of war-damaged London, with new estates planned to treble the population. Today it is a town of around 27,500 people close to the Essex and Cambridgeshire borders, with homes from every decade of that growth, and its TV signals come from two directions at once.
We install aerials throughout CB9, in the town and the villages around it. Because Haverhill can be served from either of two transmitters, we measure both at your address before deciding which way the aerial should face. You get the readings, a plain explanation of the job and an agreed price before we begin, and we tune and test every TV when we finish.

TV aerial installation in Haverhill

New and replacement TV aerials
Depending on the street, a Haverhill aerial faces east-south-east to Sudbury or west to Sandy Heath. Both carry BBC East and ITV Anglia. We fit a wideband aerial aimed at whichever gives your home the cleaner signal, and remove the old one.

Loft aerials
A loft aerial keeps your roofline clear and stays out of the weather. Haverhill is some way from both transmitters and the centre sits in a dip, so we measure in your loft first and only fit one when the signal is strong enough.

Extra TV points and Freeview Play
Additional sockets for bedrooms, a home office or a loft conversion, fed through a distribution amplifier from one aerial. We set up Freeview Play on your connected TVs and check every room.

TV wall mounting
Screens mounted on brick, block or plasterboard with fixings matched to the wall and the TV’s weight. Cables hidden in the wall where possible, or in tidy trunking on solid walls.

Communal TV aerials for flats
Haverhill’s expansion brought blocks of flats and maisonettes alongside the houses, and many share one aerial system. We repair and upgrade these so every home on the system gets a clean signal.
Two transmitters: TV reception in Haverhill
Haverhill sits between two main transmitters. Sudbury, in Suffolk, is roughly 16 miles to the east-south-east. Sandy Heath, the 244-metre mast in Bedfordshire, is further away, about 29 miles to the west, but much more powerful. Both broadcast BBC Look East and ITV Anglia, so your regional news is the same whichever you use. You will see TV aerials in the town pointing both ways, and the right choice depends on your street.
The town centre lies in a gentle dip in the chalk hills of the Newmarket Ridge, with Stour Brook running through it. Homes on the higher ground at the edges of town often have a clear view in at least one direction, while houses lower down, close to taller buildings or among mature trees can find one transmitter weak and the other fine. A meter reading for each tells us which to use, and whether a taller pole or a higher-gain aerial is needed.
Older aerials designed for a narrow group of channels may miss a multiplex since the frequency changes of recent years. Mobile masts around the town and along the A1307 can also cause 4G and 5G interference in an amplifier. A wideband aerial and a filter usually deal with both.

Expansion estates and Great Wilsey Park
Much of Haverhill was built in a short span: estates such as Chalkstone, Clements and Hanchet End went up as the town expanded, and many of their TV aerials and cables are original or decades old. On these homes we often replace the aerial, the down-lead and the old splitter in one go so every room works properly. At the other end of town, the new homes at Great Wilsey Park are often handed over with cable in the walls and no aerial on the roof. We fit the aerial, connect it to the existing sockets and test each room before we leave.

Haverhill questions
Should my TV aerial point at Sudbury or Sandy Heath?
It depends on your street. Both serve Haverhill and both carry BBC East and ITV Anglia. Sudbury is closer, to the east-south-east; Sandy Heath is further west but more powerful. We measure both at your address and aim at whichever is better.
Can I have a loft aerial in Haverhill?
Sometimes. The town is a fair distance from both transmitters, and the centre is in a dip, so a loft aerial works in some homes but not others. We test in the loft before recommending one.
My neighbour’s TV aerial points the opposite way to mine. Is one of us wrong?
Not necessarily. In Haverhill, aerials face either Sudbury or Sandy Heath, and both can work. What matters is which gives the better signal at your house.
Do you cover the villages around Haverhill?
Yes. We cover Kedington, Withersfield, the Wrattings, Sturmer, the Bumpsteads, the Thurlows, Barnardiston, Horseheath, Castle Camps and Linton.
Will I lose my local news if I change transmitter?
No. Sudbury and Sandy Heath both broadcast BBC Look East and ITV Anglia, so your regional programmes stay the same.
